Greetings List Lurkers,

I hate to go all serene on your asses, but several things have conspired to make me feel that progress is possible: 1.) I went over to the Casella Waste Management techno rubble jamboree this weekend behind the Barre Auditorium. Thought I would drop off a few old hulks. Holy cow!!! I never saw an acre of techno-rubble!!! I walked off with among other things:
-- Two or three laptops that when dried may work or be parts.
-- Two used mind-storm NX controllers. These do not work, but when I dry
   them they might.
-- Fluorescent Lighting for the shop.
-- Three Cross-cut saws
-- Six Jig saws...
It was the best pickings I have ever seen.

2.) I relaxed this weekend, I slept, I dreamed, I dreamed of a whimsical combination of my pickings from Castella... The name in the dream was:

Computer
Animated
Tool

If a computer can have mice, as in:

Windows
Icon
Mice and
Pointer
Systems

Why not C.A.T.S.?

What would be cooler than a scrolling Jig saw that you can turn loose on some innocent piece of plywood? Can we get to DIY heaven?

3.) For these reasons I am looking forward to this Monday afternoon. The adult swim will continue today ...this evening we will be meeting between 5 and 7 PM at the Hedding United Methodist community facilities as per usual.

Now with the Lego mind-storm NX. DTG has already found a Python-to-NX cross interpreter with usb support. Now we just need the blue-tooth interface... Beyond the CATS, we are gonna order the Dallas Semiconductor three wire temperature sensors, and figure out how to get the data to the Mind-storm NX module, very likely using Python.

Despite this, we continue our python programming discussions, the ongoing attempt to satisfy the ageing python homework contest, and show the new ground we have plowed in "fried tiddles".

We also touch on system troubleshooting and we are always about Linux / Ubuntu system installation. Keeping up with the latest on DTG's laptop, with it's fresh copy of Maverick Meerkat installed, is a major event.

Come on down if you have questions or are interested in Linux or the concept of free and open systems.

Finally, if you wish to be included on the "Linux_adult_swim" mailing list, send a response to this note.

Kindest Regards,
