I think it depends on where you live.  If you live in Middle of
Nowhere, VT, I would imagine you are likely to get more stations and
better signal.  I don't know anything about it from personal
experience.  A ham radio guy out in Underhill tried it; he lives an
"off-the-grid" lifestyle, with solar panels on the rooftop and an
energy efficient washer.  I can send you his contact info off list.
