The Champlain College Game Developers Association (CCGDA) meet last
night. For those that don't know, GDC is the major conference for video
game development.

This chapter is sponsored as a Champlain College student organization,
but Basil (the Prime Minister) aspires to build this into a wider
community group for local game devs--hopefully he'll stay in the area
after graduation :). Vague has been doing roving meeting mashups
recently, so these are another opportunity to get together.

There was free food and (soft) drink. I enjoyed the crackers with the
cryptic "dare -- dare" embossed on them. The highlight of the meeting
was interesting behind the scenes notes from a GDC Austin volunteer
(Basil: I'm afraid I'll get her name wrong so please annotate). Also,
this was the first official meeting, so the bigwigs introduced
themselves, and teased about upcoming "AAA" speakers.

Apparently, the primordial soup which became CCGDA had a game jam last
year, and will be having another in November (weekend of 11th I think,
I'm sure there will be better details on the Vague list soon). I think
it goes like this: the rules are revealed on a Friday, hack, hack, hack,
games judged on Sunday. The wider community is invited to join the fun
and hack together there own (analog or digital) games, so Vaguers are
welcome, alone or in groups.
