Greetings List Lurkers,
Another sunny warm day greets us... Welcome to your official notice of the
Barre Open Systems Institute (BOSI) Adult swim, in a reasonable time, (the
swim stars at 5:00 PM) we will continue the business of dealing with the
all manner of technology. Many believe, the BOSI Adult Swim remains an
excellent opportunity to do good things with open source technology...
Some also believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claws.
Despite the smarmy implied ennui, several projects are of interest, we are
attempting to develop Barre Open Porch, based upon a fork of the Open
Porch product in GIT, as well as the always popular pellet furnace
monitoring project. As you can see this would fit very well into my
framework for world domination at this afternoons meeting.
While we are interested in your good thoughts and offices, I must now
quote from the good book of the Weasel:
"Paul,
If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Just because
you personally have rediscovered your love of shell programming doesn't
make BASH a fitting or appropriate candidate language for a "general
purpose information management system" Why must you always shoehorn your
every fetish de jour into a big "NEW" idea. How about you make BASH a
general purpose management system to control networks of interlinked
Arduino-controlled ISO containers that contain embedded pellet stoves.
Bonus if you can program program a Ruby on rails front end."
With criticism like that who needs enemas?
Ongoing projects tend to gather here:

Otherwise Barre indeed remains a great venue for a Linux and Open Source
Software meeting. We made progress on our internal
infrastructure, remember it is an analog world.
We likely have to change out a video card before the night is through for
our hosts.
That said, continue to find our grubby mitts on the Dallas Semi "1-wire"
temperature probes, with more on the way, I have given up on
the damn Basic Stamp micro development the whole enchalata appears to be
immune to Linux. Who knows, we actually have an Arduino
and while it is not a Raspberry Pie...it is a solution looking for a
problem.
Anyway, come and do open source stuff. For more information about the BOSI
Adult Swim meeting time and location try this:

Show up at the the Hedding United Methodist Church Basement if you have
questions or are interested in Linux or the concept of free and open systems,
The basement of the Hedding UMC facility is actually working out pretty well.
If you wish to be included on the "Linux_adult_swim" mailing list, send a
response to this note. Note that the mailing list system is a bit peevish
right now. Let me know if you have any difficulties.
Kindest Regards,
Paul Flint
