I have almost no experience with this myself (other than tinkering with
some VM's at home), but it sounds like a config management system would be
worthwhile, considering the number of machines. Puppet or Chef are the most
popular, but Salt is rapidly becoming popular. From what I've read, Salt is
easier for sending out actual commands to multiple boxes. I've only tried
Puppet, and it has a bit of a learning curve, but it's very good at keep
machines in a consistent state.

I'm sure real sysadmins will chime in soon enough proper guidance :)
