Anybody have any suggestions as to documentation tools that might integrate with a narrative code description? I'm trying to tell the story of a code process with a "this calls that" "that does this" with some interspersed diagrams and background. I'm writing up the doc using Lyx, so it comes out looking fairly clean and is somewhat portable.

I've sometimes used dot to come up with a directed graph of function calls that is helpful.

Doxygen is not what I'm looking for and the code I'm working with has forked from a mainstream version and is its own benighted beast (but it works ;-) ).

We geeks sometimes eschew documentation. I find it to be meditative. And after struggling with a large codebase, I need the documentation for myself! My RAM isn't what it used to be.

Thanx all. What out for that hot sun, it's safer in the cave ;-)
