Flint; Dell's latitude line has used the same power supply for the last 5 years. Current and physical package have varied, but a 5 year old 90 watt Dell Power Supply from a latitude E6400 fits a brand new e6440.
I'm sure the group that donated those laptops generally let's staff keep their old working power supplies as home or travel power supplies. There is a ~600 day MTBF on physical failure (frayed ends, children chewing on them).
