Seconded. Hackers -- and Levy -- had no small impact on my career,
itself. I wrote him back in '86, after it reading it in '85, and he
wrote back, on Macworld letterhead, telling me I should join The WELL
("Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link"), which I did, thus starting my first
presence on the Internet. Regardless, the book is a fantastic look at
the "Hacker Ethic," as he calls it, and a lot of the underpinnings of
Open Source including, if memory serves, a chapter on RMS.
Strongly recommended if you haven't read it already.
