Greetings PFC Ryan Eastman,
I have sent the following letter to several prominent citizens and news
organizations here in Central Vermont:
PFC Ryan Eastman, a native son of Barre City, is a young Army Private
currently stationed in the Middle East. After guard duty he has spent his
time playing computer games on a relatively well powered laptop he
purchased in Vicenza, Italy. In the last few days this Asus laptop has
experienced an extensive hardware failure.
At this time he has neither the funds nor the opportunity to obtain a
replacement laptop.
The Barre Open Systems Institute (BOSIvt.org) proposes to obtain a
suitable laptop from a donor, install Linux, and ship this laptop to
Private Ryan via Army Post. At this time we are soliciting donations of
such a Laptop. This laptop needs to be of recent vintage, with a power
supply, at least an Intel "i5" processor, and with at least 4 Gigabytes of
RAM, generally and capable of running Windows 7. BOSI intends to prepare
this unit by completely erasing the hard drive, loading Linux on the
laptop and shipping it via APO to Private Ryan Eastman.
If you know of someone who is upgrading a recent vintage laptop or who
needs to dispose of one, please contact me and we will arrange to obtain
the unit, and give you a receipt of for this donation.
I believe that supporting our war-fighters is as patriotic act as we can
perform, and I ask you help in supporting Private Ryan Eastman.
Please contact me by email or phone if you can help...
Sincerely,
Paul Flint Director,
Barre Open Systems Institute

Hopefully Ryan Eastman, we will be able to find you a laptop...
