Paul is always full of ideas, and I'm always feeling like they need a
little focus... If I was hit by a hurricane, I'd welcome a shipment of
something more appropriate for the situation, like Marianne Cusato's
design: the Katrina Cottage. And to bring this back to software, I think
her writing is also very inspiring for the software architecture. As we
look with pride on the golden dome, we note that the cyma crowing the
classical orders is a gutter, the beautiful frieze caps the ends of the
ceiling joists, etc. When we forget these things we end up with designs
that aren't functional or beautiful.
