Sorry you had so much trouble! My phone company's DSL service (Waitsfield Champlain Valley Telecom) is reliable. Too bad we've all been waiting since 1995 for that fiber optic cable.

My old one was a BEC also. I think they are ok, and there is probably a fix. In theory you could have the two radios and the ethernet on three network segments, and you wouldn't expect to forward arp data between them, so it is probably in a mode like that, I was hoping this rang a bell with someone.

Yes, I had the same thought!

It is possible that I had some arp issue with the old modem, unfortunately/fortunately once the caches warm up you forget there was ever any trouble. It is easy to accidentally fix the problem before you realize you had it. Just trying to connect to the broken machine fixes it! You need to flush the cache to test.
