Greetings List Lurkers,
I had an interesting literary discussion with the good folks over at
hackclub.com, last week we made contact. I really hope that we may be
joined by representatives of hackclub.com. To quote www.idealist.org:
Launched 7 years ago, Hack Club is a global network of student-led hacker
clubs now spanning 315 high schools, 35 states, and 17 countries with an
estimated 10,000 students impacted by our programs each year.
Hackclub appears to have opened offices in Central Vermont! (BOSI uses
Hedding UMC's basement gratis when it is open). These new offices appear
to be within walking distance from Route 7 in Shelburne.
Anyway... I wish to cordially welcome these good folks, who while starting
in San Francisco, join the ranks of Code for America, unleash kids, HackDC
and many organizations that espouse training and education in Open Source
Systems - and these are only the ones that I have interacted with, there
are likely many more organizations, including the venerable Vermont Area
Group of Unix Enthusiasts (VAGUE).
These and many other clubs across the known universe generally welcome
participants of all ages however, here at BOSI we seem to have a mission
to help adults and seniors interested in Open Source Systems, but it is
still good to have a mission...
I would be most pleased to develop a directory of OSS/Maker organizations.
(Maybe someone will take this up as a mission :^) Hell, maybe there is
already a list...
Finally what I like most about hackclub is that they have a Bank!

Otherwise I continue with my winter projects.

Golly it is all a lot of fun.
