Hi Ron,

To host a list on LIST.UVM.EDU, there needs to be someone from UVM (typically faculty or staff) to sponsor it and act as the primary administrator/editor. UVM won't host a list without an affiliate to run it.

Products:

If it has to be LISTSERV, L-SOFT will sell lists on a SaaS basis (this is called "ListPlex") http://www.lsoft.com/products/listplex_pricing.asp

Less expensive: https://www.simplelists.com/products.php starting at $6/month

Gratis ... Google Groups will do mailing lists. There's also Your mailing list provider (ymlp.com). You should expect these services to monetize via advertisements in your list.

Note that I only have personal experience with LISTSERV, and Google Groups.

Other members of this list may have some other suggestions.

Happy hunting,

Jim

O.K. It may seem a little ridiculous asking ListServe recipients about a recommendation for a ListServe. The VAGUE listserve is hosted by UVM. Is it legitimate to ask for a new group to be established?

I actually have */several groups/* for which I would like to facilitate better communications, and /social media is not the way to go/. So, I was wondering if this group might have some recommendations. The big thing is that people should be able to easily add or remove themselves from the list.

Thanks in advance,
