I'm not sure I take your meaning here. It seems a contradiction. Isn't Gtk a binding that someone might not know how to use? (See the first paragraph of quoted text if you're confused—I don't know if that was intentional; I figure it's not, though). > Btw: Library documentation is really the first place to look for > answers. Just as a side note: I looked at the documentation before posting, as I mentioned before, including portions of the manual, as I did not mention before, although I didn't realize that's what it was at the time (more than once). And, I've since learned the answer from someone, but it's not something they covered there, oddly enough (especially for something so simple—I guess they figure we only need to know the complex stuff, except maybe in the tutorials, although the link to them that I saw appears to be broken right now, so I can't say). Lest anyone is wondering the solution, it's to call the MenuItem's show() method (it's not required the first time when invoked in the constructor, in Vala, so I figured I didn't need it later, but, apparently, I did the second time). I had seen something about this earlier, in another context, but as I said, I figured it was unnecessary, and it wasn't fresh on my mind. About people's valuable time (putting aside what is and is not relevant to the list for the moment, and not applying this to my previous posts, particularly)—people certainly are free to ignore any posts they see. If they know the answer, it shouldn't take much valuable time. If they don't (in which case, they don't 'necessarily' know how to use the library more than the questioner—though I'm sure you know more than I do there, lest you think I'm slighting you), that's another story, and perhaps they'll be generous, or not. The concern of spamming the list, I think, is much greater (seeing as that's not something they themselves have control over: on the other hand, their time sure is). _______________________________________________ Vala-list mailing list [email protected] http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/vala-list
