In the worst-case scenario, you could try with Cygwin instead of Mingw. Whatever compiles under Linux usually also compiles under Windows using Cygwin (the only problem is that it won't compile statically, you will have to ship it with a few DLLs if you want to distribute the resulting executable in binary form).
