(I'm not sure about the delegate bug, it may or may not be in bugzilla – but I 
won't waste my time reporting bugs
that nobody is going to fix anyway. Feel free to report it yourself).
 
As you can see, it proved impossible to get feedback on a patch for the first 
bug.
As for the second one, the problem is that somebody decided some day that 
generics should
be covariant regardless of their contents, which is unsound. Once you've 
allowed that kind of
asshattery into your type system and people start to rely on it, there's no 
easy way to fix it.
Perhaps one could write a tool to automate this kind of change, but that would 
be quite involved
and require whole-program analysis.
If you're interested in a more detailed description of the issue, feel free to 
ask, but for now I'd
rather keep this brief.
