Once again thanks for the nice words and encouragement, will help me in running the full marathon next year! ________________________________ From: Archana Sharma <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, 20 January, 2009 7:44:06 PM Subject: Re: Mumbai Marathon and ooske stories You get goose bumps, dont you and the throat chokes as well. And you feel so proud of the city and we feel it's not worth the gaalis we give to our city. The event was ditto like last year, I think as u describe it. Yaar professionals don't manufacture rubber and don't do plantations and all the complicated things related to that. So please be happy with 2.15 hours (it's not 2.15 minutes...it's counted as 2 mins and 15 seconds) I almost fell off the chair when i first saw that. And i assumed u ran the dream run but for that too 2.15 mins was too fast. It is indeed very overhwhelming...my eyes got welled up when I saw a 90 year old man walking, a spastic child dressed like Krishna in the wheelchair being pushed, three girls dressed in navvari sari, and the countless message T-shirts . It is by far the best best event Mumbai has. I think it beats Govinda and Ganesh Chaturthi in its entertainment and patriotic value. But again, the two festivals are celebrated every where in the smallest of gully. Whereas the people who come for marathon are fairly middle class and poorer sections come when attached to an organisation. Again, well done and stop comparing. Be proud of yourself. We all are! And kuch nahin pakaya. Arch About completing it in 2.15 minutes, do you know the professionals take the same time to complete the full marathon? It was so depressing to see them running backwards towards the finish line when we were all running towards the half way mark! There were lots of posters all around of the heros of 26/11 carnage and i would get emotional and that made me run a little faster! All in all a great feeling once you complete it. Bahut pakaya, chalo bye! ________________________________ From: Archana Sharma <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, 19 January, 2009 9:41:28 PM Subject: Re: Mumbai Marathon and ooske stories 2.15 minutes is very very impressive. Wasnt it your first ever marathon run? And the cheering crowd is amazing, isn't it. Is Stan Chart publishing all the pictures of 21 kms? Cant wait. Well done, congrats! I can give you the exact timing once i receive the certificate since i was wearing the timing chip. It was an awesome experience, when I was running the last 4 K's which is considered to be the toughest I was thinking about Archana's mail in which she had described about Dhandraj Pillay's halat after he had started walking at the end. I could relate with that episode so well since 50% of the ppl had given up and were walking but i decided to go on! Felt nice, great feeling to complete the Marathon although i should have done it in sub 2 hours! I saw a lot of young girls overtaking me and felt ashamed of myself, may be this fact will push me harder and make me run the full marathon in the next year in good time! I will post some pictures when I officialy get from the Std. Chartered web site! ________________________________ From: Anil Nair <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, 19 January, 2009 7:20:50 AM Subject: Re: Mumbai Marathon and ooske stories Nayan - Marathon kaisa tha? 21k khatam kar paaya? U must have meant sarcastic. Is it the spelling you have been using right from the beginning. Sometimes you have decided on a spelling and continue it and it feels correct till it is questioned. So i thought i should point. Once when i said the word illicit my fren laughed at me and said u meant illict right? As in illict relationship. I said no it is illicit. We went to the dictionary and he was shocked that all his life he had visualised the word without i. Arch On 1/17/09, Sameer Chhatre <[email protected]> wrote: First hand or first feet? Or are we showing the brave dont care attitude to them? I just read an article written by Manav Chakraborthy from livemint or something. He has been very circastic saying nothing has been done after those attacks. Sorry I dont have the link to forward. Also, sorry to divert the topic but can someone give me an update on what happened after all that show shaa...? Woh Israel army ko dekho, not listening to anybody and killing whoever they see. I am sorry i woke up a little late, never mind if things go according to plans I might visit your country to run the next marathon and we both can take part together! I am running 21 K's tomorrow, a little tensed but excited at the same time. Lets see in how much time I can complete it, the challenge is the timing and not the completion actually! Thank you for your good wishes! I will write stories about my first hand experience about the marathon after i complete tomorrow's run, so wait till then! Chal take care! ________________________________ From: Archana Sharma <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, 16 January, 2009 9:10:38 PM Subject: Mumbai Marathon and ooske stories Hey that's fab. You running finally when I have returned to the UK. Had I been there, we could have caught up and may be ran together shouting Vani Reunion 88-89 batch zindabad. WIll you be promoting any cause? What are you running dream run or 21-kms? Don't tell me it's 42 kms. I used to sleep at office dormitory overnight and leave from there itself. And those female reporters covering the Marathon and a female photographer also used to stay. It used to be one noisy and sleepless night getting scared of the smallest sound. Actually, male reporters and editors before leaving would tell us stories about who committed suicide in the dorm once and scare us. Remembering those days. last time I had screamed at Dhanraj Pillai when i was running for the dream run. He was coming back on the opposite lane from 21 kms. I stood at the road divider and said, " What Dhanraj, you disappoint me. Why are you walking and not running." Dhanraj like a typical rowdy said, " Waah, you try to run 21 kms and then tell me. Yourself are doing dream run, haa." The conversation was so casual my friends asked me you know Dhanraj and I said no, first time i am talking to him. That is how Mumbai Marathon is. Infectious excitement. All the best Nayan. Arch On Fri, Jan 16, 2009 at 11:22 AM, Nayan Mapani <[email protected]> wrote: Arre when you see it dont get offended pls!
