Hi, apparently, a SPAM mail went through some of the VaporWare mailing lists. The mailing lists are normally protected against SPAM by means of a strict "closed-post" policy. This means that the listserver checks any incoming post against the list of subscribers, and only allows posts from people who are actually subscribed. In fact, about 3-4 SPAM postings per day (!) are trapped this way. However, the recent SPAM with the forged From: address <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> had a new quality: In fact, the SPAMbot actually *SUBSCRIBED* the forged From: address to the mailing lists first, and then spammed. This way, the closed-post protection was effectivly disabled, and the SPAM post went through. In order to avoid this in the future, I've now changed all the mailing list configurations to "confirm subscribe". This means that the mailing list server will not process subscribe requests immediately; instead, it will send back a ticket to the address trying to subscribe and request a confirmation reply. As this requires the subscribing address to be valid, it should effectivly disable this particular new generation of SPAMbots. Sorry for any inconvenience.
