You did indeed. So then my question is, is there a disadvantage to allowing an object to be used for the IMS request if ttl and grace have both elapsed, but conditional_timeout has not yet? Someone might decide to set obj.ttl = 0 but then set obj.conditional_timeout to non-zero. Or the timers could just run out that way, if conditional_timeout > grace. In either case, nothing's happening that you wouldn't expect from the configuration, especially if by default conditional_timeout <= grace (you'd have to explicitly decide otherwise). So why not use such an object for an IMS attempt?
