Hi Zheng, When you're writing stuff to disk you are increasing pressure on the VM. The VM might try to do something smart and decide it needs a lot more memory for caching the log files you're writing to. That might starve Varnish.
I would run it again and have Munin or something similar recording what is happening so you'll know. Per.
