Jason, It would be up to the maintainer of the Redis VMOD to port it to Varnish 4.0. It should be very straightforward to port the redis vmod forward unless it does something really weird. I've ported VMODs to 4 and if I can do it then most other people should manage.
Of course the problem might be that the VMOD is abandoned and if that is the case, well, then you might want to do something about that. Besides, Varnish 3.0 being EOL doesn't instantly make it unusable.
