Dears,

There are three mining leases on the ridge above village Advalpal. The mines
are partly in Bardez taluka and the affected fields are mostly in Bicholim
taluka. The old mines are just part of the story that has been revealed:
there are prospecting licences in the adjoining areas. Soon the area around
Tivim Railway station in Bardez could resemble the area around
Mayem-Bicholim or Pissurlem.

Right now it is Salgaocar Mining Industries Ltd [of Anil Salgaocar, MLA],
Infrastructure Logistics Pvt. Ltd [ILPL is a Avdhoot Modhu Timblo's Fomento
Group company] and Sesa Goa Ltd [an A. Agarwal's Vedanta group company now]
that operate the leases, some of them through the as yet not commonly known
"Trimurthi" syndicate. According to my sources, Chowgule's have an as yet
unused lease, too. It is partly hidden by trees under a Social Forestry
programme.

The Task Force has provided for mining as a necessary engine of
rapid economic growth. It acknowledges what Claude Alvares and Reboni Saha
have said about its 4% contribution to the State's GDP with a 8%
geographical are "footprint" besides it "carbon footprint" for excavation
and transport ...and pumping out precious groundwater to excavate ore in the
below water-level mine pits.

When you see whom the State of Goa defends with its Police and District
Collectors in Advalpal, Betul-Nuem, Colomb, etc, there are no doubts as to
which side of the Pao is buttered.

Mog asundi.

The Goa Su-Raj Party, in solidarity with the people of Advalpal wishes to
fortify the people's resolve to arrest the sickness that is destroying
unique villages, the village life, the sustainability of village
agricultures and in general entire Goan environmental and ecological
balance, including its forests and wild-life, only for monetary
considerations of the mine owners/operators themselves and the vested
interests in local and central governments.

Goan People's Resolve that must prevail at all costs is that:-

"IF THE PEOPLE OF GOA DO NOT GET THE BENEFITS OF THE GOD GIVEN RESOURCES
THAT BELONG TO GOA AND ITS PEOPLE, THEN LET THESE RESOURCES LIE UNTOUCHED
AND UNDISTURBED"
