Dears, There are three mining leases on the ridge above village Advalpal. The mines are partly in Bardez taluka and the affected fields are mostly in Bicholim taluka. The old mines are just part of the story that has been revealed: there are prospecting licences in the adjoining areas. Soon the area around Tivim Railway station in Bardez could resemble the area around Mayem-Bicholim or Pissurlem.
Right now it is Salgaocar Mining Industries Ltd [of Anil Salgaocar, MLA], Infrastructure Logistics Pvt. Ltd [ILPL is a Avdhoot Modhu Timblo's Fomento Group company] and Sesa Goa Ltd [an A. Agarwal's Vedanta group company now] that operate the leases, some of them through the as yet not commonly known "Trimurthi" syndicate. According to my sources, Chowgule's have an as yet unused lease, too. It is partly hidden by trees under a Social Forestry programme.
