The Non-Rectangular Trait allow you to change the shape of the Selection border when you click on a unit. Normally, this border is the union of all the rectangles of all active traits that make up the counter. Images are rectangular shaped and so the selection border for a Transparent counter is the bordering rectangle, not the non-transparent part of the image.
The Non-rectangular trait allows you to specify an image that has transparent parts and the Selection Border will be set to follow the shape of the opaque part of the image.

Brent.

Just curious, given the name, I assume this trait is intended for non square
pieces, such as hex pieces for a hex grid. However, how is this trait used,
or is it used? I've tried looking through the Vassal documentation, but got
only two hits in the search, both of which were for supporting the trait in
future development. So I assuming that this Trait is not yet ready for use,
but thought I'd ask to be sure. Thanks.
