You should be able to substantially reduce the size of your GIFs by
changing them to PNGs and running a program called pngout on them.
(GIFs tend to be less compact anyway, and pngout finds ways to better
compress PNGs without discarding any information. I highly recommend
pngout to anyone making modules which use PNGs.)
