Hello Vassal gurus!
There is an old saying, 'Brass neck, easy life'. Well, I'm going to
display some breath-taking effrontery here, so brace yourselves.
I don't know if you are aquainted at all with Hoplomachia: it is a
set of wonderful miniatures rules published online by The Perfect
Captain covering the brawling between the Greek City States in the 5th
& 4th centuries BCE. It is freely available for download, and is
altogether fab - crying out loudly for adaptation as a Vassal mod as
it would be a terrific face to face online game.
I wish I had the artistic talent to pull it off myself, but I don't.
Scenario writing I can do, to be sure, but that is about it. Now, to
the point: is anybody at all interested in having a crack at
developing this? Maps and counters would have to be developed from
scratch, I'm afraid, but it is great, evocative subject matter, and
the play aids, markers and such are already available for download
(and beautiful they are, too).
I should mention I am in no way connected to The Perfect Captain;
rather, I am a lone virtual gamer, hooked on a great system who can't
help but think that playing the game with the Great Battles of
Alexander bits doesn't quite cut it...
Anybody interested? :)
