Yes, by tying in a report trait to the trigger it will notify players in the
chat window. Alternatively you can add a at start marker that keeps track of
this that is permanently visible on the board. Ill write you up a
walkthrough shortly

Tim,

While this is very cool that it can do this automatically, taking it out
of the player's hands, I still want to be sure that the players know
what happened (the terror level went up, etc.) Is there a way to pop-up
a message so the players are aware of these things, or at the very least
send a message to the chat window (I'm afraid that might be missed,
though).

Thanks,

Dave

I should add, that by doing it this way there is no need to display the
values, as you have now built in the rule for the engine and it will
keep
track of it for you and enforce it automatically Less for players to
need to
see/do.

Hi Dave,

Give the monsters a dynamic property value of 1 and a passive trigger
(key
command link to the DP) to increase a global property whenever they
enter/exit the main board. Also give them another passive trigger to
fire a
send to location (outskirts) when the adjusting global property exceeds
the
predefined value of another global property that is set by players at
game
start. Same can be done for Gates

Tim

Subject: [vassalengine] Counting pieces on a board

Hi all,

I'm making a module (still) that has limits to how many certain pieces
can be on the board at any one time, and if more pieces than that
level enter the board they need to be sent to a different location.

Is there some way to 'count' these pieces (they're cards) as they
leave the deck and are placed on the board? And someway to display
this number to the players (such as creating a new board with a
counter that increments/decrements as these pieces are placed/removed
from the board)?

The value changes depending on the number of players as well, so I
would need to be able to change the upper limit based on the number of
players.

Any help?

Thanks in advance,
