It means the same in English. (Probably the word came from Old French?)

In reply to the original message on this thread: I've thought for a bit
about the individual on BGG having a similar name, and think it's a
canard. It's not like anyone knows who this guy is, and there's no obvious
connection between him and us. I could see the original poster's point if 
Rodney had designed a program for playing a game abbreviated as HTLR
and called the engine HITLER, for example.
