My initial reaction is that I would prefer item a. Especially for situations where you may be in the middle of working on a module, changing things around, and then saving during the process. It seems that you might then lose the images. Option b, if offered, should be controlled by a preference selection. On the other hand, if the standard work flow involves choosing the image with a file chooser and having it copied into the module whenever it is linked to something, then it doesn't seem like data loss would be an issue. Nor would it save any work steps to have the image already in the module. Since you have to initially supply the image from someplace other than the module itself, it doesn't seem like there will be lost artwork unless you take affirmative action to delete the art files from your computer after building the module. That seems to indicate that option B may be the best solution after all. It requires no additional work, and there seems to be only a really miniscule chance of losing data in practice. That said, it is probably best to have the automatic purge on a preference, and still add the menu item.
