Those who have visited the vassalengine.org download page recently may have
noticed that the manual installer has been simplified. Rather than
downloading a .jar installer executable, the manual install is now a
straight-forward .zip file. Unpack the .zip file and run the .bat or .sh
file inside. Changing the memory allocation can be done by editing the
.bat/.sh file. Default is 1GB, specified by the -Xmx1G argument in the
command line. Changing it to -Xmx2G will increase the allocation to 2GB,
etc.
