Hi Guys
I have an application which needs to test for an existing internet connection,
and if one does not exist, make one. I know how to do this using WinInet but my
question relates to distribution of that library.

I think (perhaps wrongly) that this library is installed as part of Internet
Explorer and as such many people will already have it. I am quite concerned
though about issuing this library as part of my distribution package. This is
an update of an application and checking for an Internet connection is a new
requirement - there are people using this software still running W95 and other
who only use Netscape or other browsers. If I issue a version of the library
that is more recent than the one they have am I risking affecting anything on
their system?

I don't however see an alternative. I *have* to make a test for a connection
and I can't find a way to do this without WinInet. That being the case, perhaps
it's safe to assume everyone will already have it as they all download my app
via the internet?

Thanks for any advice
Ian
