[email protected] *DB2 DBA* *San Francisco, CA* *Phone then skype* *3 months with extensions* *EAD, GC, US Citizen* *2 Weeks* *We need someone that has a **strong** working knowledge of** DB2 V10.1 or higher.** * Here are some of the tasks/responsibilities we want a candidate to focus on:. - Responsible for supporting the organizations DB2 databases and ensuring their performance, availability, scalability and security. - Strong working knowledge of DB2 V10.1 or higher on AIX platform. - Extensively used DB2 utilities like RUNSTATS to collect table and index statistics and REORG to reorganize tables and indexes to improve access and storage efficiency.. - Perform database maintenance/tuning and monitor performance to ensure that response meets or exceeds expectations - Experience with DB2 Design Advisor to analyze SQL statements to suggest new indexes to improve application performance - Good understanding to read Explain output to determine access strategy chosen by Optimizer. - Investigate current application activity that might indicate performance problems using SQL statements. - Should be comfortable with DB2 provided Views and Functions in SQL to evaluate efficient use of database memory for locks, sorting and package cache. - Plan & Work on upgrading existing DB2 database servers to DB2 10.5 - In depth knowledge and work experience on database monitoring tools e.g. IBM Data Studio, IBM Optim. - Experienced with db2convert or ADMIN_MOVE_TABLE to convert row-organized tables to column-organized tables - Monitor a DB2 database or application that uses column-organized tables - Good working knowledge on products like DB2 Recovery Expert, DB2 Merge Backup, and Optim High Performance Unload, Optim Query workload tuner.
