Job Description The role of Integration Specialist differs from a traditional “Application / Interactive Developer” in that primary emphasis is placed on retrieving and manipulating data, regardless of its source, in order for the target system to make use of it. Candidates should be uniquely qualified to design, develop, and support applications that: · Retrieve data via various sources including databases (MSSQL, DB2, Oracle), XML (files as well as over HTTP), and WebServices (SOAP and REST). · Efficiently send and receive small and large datasets to and from back end systems · Occasional front end Web presentation layer development (ASP.net, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery) Job Responsibilities · The person in this role needs to be able to switch gears depending on the needs of the current Agile sprint. · Sometimes the majority of their time will be spent doing pure software development and enhancement of existing and new integration applications while other times there will be an emphasis on configuration of vendor application interfaces and workflow components. · Occasionally there will be traditional web development needs. · The ideal candidate should be able to bridge the gaps between DBA, software developer, business analyst, user interface designer, content owner, and usability analyst in order to build the most efficient, usable, interactive, and intuitive integrations and application components. · The applicant will need to be able to take the general concepts of what the vendor platform is capable of, understand its limitations and come up with an appropriate combination of vendor components, integrations apply it without step by step instruction. Job Requirement · The Integration Specialist should have a broad range of expertise, spanning many disciplines. · Knowledge of how to interface with multiple data stores is required. · One should be very comfortable with the following: · Software Development o Many tasks will require a heavy amount of skill with server side technologies: Windows Console Applications, ASP.net, SQL Queries/scripts etc. · Object oriented analysis and design o We have many prebuilt components and in addition to being able to interface with these the developer will need to be able to extend and build new ones. · N-tiered development o This position will be dealing directly with web services and various databases to retrieve data. The ideal candidate needs the ability to figure out the best data store to access when multiple ones contain the data. We are also a data provider to other systems so care needs to be taken when extending and refactoring so as not to disrupt those integrations. Good foresight and communication is imperative when interface/schema changes are unavoidable. · Database design and development o Maintenance of existing and development of new MSSQL databases is core to the duties of this position. · Client side coding techniques o Knowledge of JavaScript, JQuery and CSS is necessary for the times that front end development is required. An intermediate understanding of web site design is needed from time to time.
