Well, I might misunderstand your reasons for testing, but I think the
simplest way (on a unix host) is to create a symlink named ~/.VirtualBox
that points to an appropriate directory on your eSATA disk.(I'm assuming
that each test machine has vbox already installed.)

I've never run vbox on a Windows host but I'm guessing that there is a
similar subdirectory somewhere in your 'Documents Folder' or near it.
