That commit causes the following step:
kBuild: Compiling VBoxREM64 -
/home/wa1ter/src/vbox/src/recompiler/target-i386/translate.c
to run forever, gradually filling 1GB of RAM and 2GB of swap until the machine
grinds to a halt.
Someone on the qemu mailing list kindly pointed me to the fix, which is being
tested upstream:
