Yes it had the directory. I don't know if it actually created it but when investigating it was there.

I can rebuild with the additions if you want for me to look for anything specific. Thinking that it might have been an issue since it was in the /dev folder I did reboot the host to be sure and it still would not work and clicking on the settings on any guest produced the broken USB subset warning.

Does the directory /dev/vboxusb exist on your system?  Does creating it
make a difference if not?
