It is documented behavior - see user manual, section "Automatic 
mounting", last paragraph. Can be improved, like so many things...

Also, expecting a response within approx. half a day is totally 
unrealistic - that was the delay between your bug tracker ticket 
creation and the near simultaneous posting in the forum and the mailing 
list.

If you're a customer with support contract you used the wrong resources. 
The virtualbox.org services are 100% best effort, intended as a 
community service. There are a LOT of VirtualBox users.
