Disk formats: .vmdk (VMware, supported by VirtualBox) .vdi (VirtualBox, supported by VirtualBox) .vhd (Microsoft Virtual PC, supported by VirtualBox) .hdd (Parellels, , supported by VirtualBox) .qcow2 (Qemu/KVM, , supported by VirtualBox) VM formats: (machine meta-data) .vmc (Microsoft Virtual PC, NOT supported by VirtualBox) .vmx (VMware, NOT supported by VirtualBox) .ovf (VMware, supported by VirtualBox) .ova (VMware, supported by VirtualBox) .vmx and .vmx were *NEVER* supported by VirtualBox.
