I was able to test the new Win-8 GAs and found a problem that is being
addressed.

Thanks for the heads-up. Actually this is half a bug of the Ubuntu
kernel and half a bug of VirtualBox. The fix is contained in
https://www.virtualbox.org/changeset/41993/vbox
So doing 'svn up' should fix it for you.
