I see. I usually don't read a lot of the Linux kernel blogs due to so
much infighting but this one was clean and concise.
I also realize the headache of trying to keep this program going with
all the changes happening all over the place and really, really,

The problem is that these functions use __always_inline which expand
to 'notrace something' and notrace expands to 'no_instrument_function'
before we can overwrite it, see <iprt/types.h> lines 117ff.
g++-4.9 is more forgiving.
