Reading project documentation is not hard. Especially when the project can  
munch its way through quite so much system resource and ultimately (though  
unlikely) can damage the running install if mistreated.

Under a VMs storage settings is an option for the optical drive. You use a  
file browser to select the .iso and you run the VM. I can't see how there  
is a simpler solution.

If I'm honest running the gauntlet of host optical drive pass-through and  
the enormous speed defecit, I can't see how its not just easier to mount  
the .iso than to mount the host drive.

Other than having to configure the VM.

The installation "should" be as smooth sailing as on a physical machine.
