my win7 install broke (overheated laptop) and I thought I'd try using w7
in a vm. because I depend on speech recognition, I must have very clean
usb audio. no luck. first record and playback was very garbled. many
dropouts. played other audio (mp3 file) and it was just as broken
up. moved voice sample to linux host, turned off vm, connected audio to
my usb headset and it was cleaner but barely audible. apprently linux
audio drivers for usb headsets don't work right. sounded like over
driven audio at a low output.

should I file this as a bug report and where?
