Install windows 7. Usually that will allow you to create restore CDs/DVD. You are entitled to make those, in case your HD crashes. Preferably test them prior to go further.
Then wipe and install Ubuntu & VBox. You should be able to use the restore CDs to reinstall. EXCEPT THAT --Lenovo probably supplied the restore as an image (they usually do), not as an install. In that case you might or might not be able to "image" the virtual HD, more likely not --Even if it works, the license might not work because the hardware is the VM hardware not the Thinkpad hardware. But if you never activated it in the first place it MIGHT pass. Make sure it is not connected when you do the initial install.
