Strange,

as far as I remember, the only thing I did, I added the source 
repository to all the standard repositories, those that are 
automatically there whenn you have a vanilla opensuse, in my case a 
11.3_64bit.

And 
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup 
did the job.

Of course, the user has to be a member of the vxboxusers group.
