Hi; Re: full-screen display of guest overmaximizes when moving from large external monitor back to laptop display
First of all, I want to say that I have been quite impressed with my experiences with VirtualBox so far. I have one bug to report at this time. I run VirtualBox 4.0 with Windoze XP Pro SP3 as host and Fedora 14 Linux as guest on a Lenovo T61 laptop with a large external monitor. I have the guest extensions installed. I start VirtualBox in full-screen (maximized) mode on the laptop displaying on the large external monitor. I start the guest and as soon as X-Windows is finished then the guest is also maximized. I perform an orderly and full shutdown of the guest, exit the VirtualBox application and perform an orderly and full shutdown of the host. I then boot up the laptop without the external display and start VirtualBox which now is in default maximized mode. However, when I boot the guest, the display is overmaximized (that is it is vastly larger than the display area). I would like the VirtualBox application to determine what the displayable dimensions are, use them correctly itself, and then pass those values on to the guest. Apparently, it has cached the values pertaining to the attributes of the external monitor and used them when the external monitor is not in use. Since I didn't really know how to phrase this succinctly, I decided that I'd send an email prior to submitting a bug, as perhaps there is already some discussion of this that I didn't see when looking at the gmane interface for older discussion threads (I just subscribed today). I am also using VirtualBox on a Lenovo T512 (?) laptop running Fedora 14 as a host with CentOS 5.2 as a guest and am about to start using VirtualBox on a CentOS 5.5 desktop.
