Hi Maurice,

We're using `sar' to help us identify the issue.  This is why we
wanted to have VBox start /immediately/ after we started `sar' 

I doubt your VDI has become corrupt via VBox.  I've been running VBox
for an extremely long time and I've yet to see or hear anyone report
that particular situation.
