I downloaded the source rpm as you suggested.
I had to modify the spec file to suit fedora AFA Required packages are 
concerned,
and it built just fine.
I am using it now and it seems to be working flawlessly.
Thank you very much for the location of the srpm.
I will browse the source code to learn more about the
structure of the vdi file.
