Subject: [VBox-users] Difficulty Playing DVDs in VirtualBox 4.1.6
Folks-
I have VirtualBox 4.1.6 setup on an Ubuntu 11.4, 64 bit host. I have a
32-bit WIndows 7 VM client setup in VirtualBox.
I installed the guest additions. I had Aero and other basic effects
working. I put a commercially *paid for* DVD into the player, and as
usual
VirtualBox didn't recognize it. I changed the settings so that the
guest
could see the drive. I attempted to play the movie on Media Player.
The
run balked indicating DVD was encrypted. I decrypted with AnyDvD. The
DVD
still does not run, and I have lost Aero support. When I attempt to put
back the guest additions the automated loaded additions no longer run
Any
suggestions as to how I can get the additions re-installed if I can't
get
to them via virtual download to the DVD/CD player? Also, any ideas of
extras I need to carry out in order to get the DVD to play?
{Steve, you don't tell us anything about the DVD that you want to play.
So I would ask whether or not it is encoded for North America -- and is
being played on a North American version of Windows? If there is a
region mis-match, SOME (but not quite "all") of the symptoms you
describe can be more-or-less expected. Hope this helps SOME!}
