Whilst attempting to get virtual networking working with VirtualBox running inside Windows 7 and hosting various flavours of Unix, my observations from doing sniffing on the various "Internal" and "Host Only" interfaces is that there appears to be some amount of leaking of packets.
For example, if I have interfaces for both "intnet" and "intnet2" (both "Internal Network" interfaces) configured to a Linux host then sniffing on one will see packets for both. Similarly, my recollection is that there was some amount of leaking between various "Host Only" virtual networks as well, and perhaps between "Host Only" and "Internal" too. Should I be seeing the above behaviour? Or should I go back and verify what I saw and come back with more concrete evidence? My goal was to use VirtualBox for testing and to have multiple subnets virtualised with multiple network ports per virtual host, with each network isolated. ... once I get this sorted out, I can dispense with using vmware for my testing! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Write once.
