Hello folks.
I'm hoping someone here can help. I'm trying to start a vm and it won't
start:
$ VBoxHeadless -s debian

In my dmesg output, I see this whenever I try starting the vm:
[653201.398936] VBoxTestOGL[19639]: segfault at 3d4 ip
00007f1269748571 sp 00007fffb913c9f0 error 4 in
ld-2.11.3.so[7f1269735000+1e000]
The host runs debian squeeze 64-bit, kernel 2.6.36.4. I installed
VirtualBox from the VirtualBox-4.0.16-75491-Linux_amd64.run package. I
also have the
Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.0.16-75491.vbox-extpack
extension pack installed.
This system stays up 24/7, and so does the guest vm. The last thing I
did before this was to upgrade to 4.0.16 without problems, and start
the guest which I can't start now, also without problems. The guest is
debian squeeze 32-bit, and it ran fine for a number of days without
problems. I shut the guest down via halt from the text console, copied
the vdi file to somewhere else for backup once the guest vm stopped,
and tried to start it again.
The only other thing I can think of is that I ran apt-get dist-upgrade
on the host over the weekend, which did bring in quite a few
upgrades. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the current
problem.
If there's any other info I can provide to help troubleshoot this,
please let me know. Oh yes, I did rerun invoke-rc.d vboxdrv setup, and
the modules were built again, and loaded without problems as far as I
could tell. I also ran invoke-rc.d vboxdrv restart, which seemed to go
just fine as well. The only thing I didn't do is to reboot the host,
which I would prefer to not have to do if I don't need to. Thanks for
any help.
