I wanted to let you know that I got this working just fine now. All I had
to do was copy the bootable iso image to my host file system, create a new
virtual machine with specifications of Linux, point it at the image when I
started it the first time, and it all loaded right up. Next thing you know
I was on the internet, etc. It was not even necessary to make any special
settings related to the boot sequence. It is as if I had the CD in my drive
and let the machine identify it from the bios. This is especially efficient
because whenever the bootable image OS is upgraded, I only need to copy it
to the same place on the host so that it will be found.

One big plus of this method is that I can add programs to the image easily
enough and they will now be available to the OS when it boots.
